DESCRIPTION: The midge gall responsible here causes the tips of Oak leaves to turn downwards and press to the lower surface. The colour is greenish to speckled yellow eventually becoming brown. Each overlap contains several larvae which are in a hollow devoid of hairs. After feeding has finished the fold loosens allowing the larvae to fall to the floor, where they pupate. DISTRIBUTION: Occasional. Best from June until October. HABITAT: On Oak leaves.
